...for American cycling fans. Lance won his 7th straight Tour de France yesterday, putting him head-and-shoulders above any other Tour cyclist in history. But, now that the 21-day race is over, Lance has retired from the sport. I looked forward to the Tour every summer to watch him ride. It has always amazed me that anyone can ride a race like that. And to watch him just dominate the whole field is astounding. I feel it's a feat the likes of which will not be seen again in my lifetime. I still may watch a stage or two during future Tours, but it won't be the same. What rider will I cheer for now?
Not only have his abilities on the bike caught America's attention, but his efforts in the fight against cancer should also be celebrated. This hits home for me considering I've lost both a grandfather and a grandmother to cancer, and my mother had breast cancer when I was six. So, for everything you've done, both on the bike and in the medical world, thank you, Lance.
