Through the rise and falling apart, we discover who we are.

Big Weekend and a Lifetime of Debt

My wife and I took a big step this weekend and bought a townhouse.  We've been looking around at houses lately, and with the home market being the way it is, we were able to get a lot more for our money by going with a townhouse.  Originally, when I moved here I was completely opposed to townhomes, but now I'm really excited about it.

The one we bought will be brand new - it hasn't even been built yet.  By going with the builder's mortgage company, we were able to get about $24,000 worth of extra options for free including a finished basement with recessed lighting in the ceiling and an 8' x 12' sunroom.  It's going to have hardwood floors in the kitchen and sunroom and brand new stainless steel appliances.  We opted for a master bedroom suite with cathedral ceilings.

I never dreamed we'd end up in a place this nice, especially for our first home.  We should be able to move in around March or April.  Now the hard part will be waiting to move in
